The Supreme Court overturned the federal right to an abortion. As we shared in our Guide to Roe v. Wade, this move sets back a half century of progress for reproductive justice, body autonomy, and possibly puts even the right to privacy in jeopardy.
We at TransLash are tracking developments in the aftermath of this devastating ruling—and the reactions of transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people in our community. Here is what TGNC folks have been sharing since this morning:
I can’t imagine how afraid the folks whose appointments were canceled are. To be pregnant when you don’t want to be and have to figure out what to do when you might not have any resources to travel out of state… it makes me sick with grief https://t.co/sdyNoh30de

Roe v Wade is dead.

It is no coincidence that we are watching abortion rights fall the same year the most anti-trans/lgbt laws have been passed in history.
These are two sides of the same coin in the same fight and the same people are fighting with the same justifications.
This isn’t “just the beginning”…this has been going on for centuries. We need to build on what has been done and be realistic about our institutions.

I feel sick. #RoeVWade being overturned affects people *of all genders*; transgender and TGNC people also need reliable access to safe abortions. Check out this @translashmedia guide for more details: https://t.co/1uDapNQJAV #pride #RoeVsWade pic.twitter.com/Kj2G6obPRw

Disabled pregnant people—esp queer & trans, poor, BIPOC, sick disabled people—WILL die because roe was overturned. The stakes aren’t just politics or economics or quality of life. Some disabled pregnant people just learned that they are going to die.

They fucking MATTER.
I feel sick to my stomach thinking about what happened today.

We knew it was coming… but it still hurts.
And the foreshadowing of more to come in “Justice” Thomas’s opinion just confirms our worst fears. This is a fight for the soul of our nation. We gotta fight. #RoeVWade
First it was abortion.

Next it will be birth control.
Then they will try to take transgender people’s medications.
Before you know it they will try to outlaw any semblance of homosexuality.
They will not stop fighting until only their ways exist and we live under biblical law.
as a transgender man, in a same-sex marriage, with an IUD and at least a theoretical possibility i could need (yes, need) an abortion- i’m not exactly sure what to do here

Every #Pride March this weekend better be a protest. #DobbsvJackson #Dobbs #PrideMonth @translashmedia

Please be mindful of how you speak of reproductive justice because it’s for everyone — not just cis women.

I’m at New York Pride and these politicians getting on stage and STILL not reading the room and not including trans masculine folks when speaking about abortion rights! Barely pronouncing LGBTQ. Like girl I know you’re here for the photo-op. Just go. HAPPY #Pride!

#SCOTUS has made today heavy. For those looking for rallies + gatherings to engage with, here’s a list of locally based pro-#abortion events. We hope by amplifying these events, our folks are able to connect, process, and build together in this time of need for community care 🧵

It’s OK to mourn today and fight tomorrow. You deserve your anger, grief, and fear, but remember the power will always be with the people.
