TransLash's Guide to COVID-19 resources for LGBTQIA people.
Since 2020, Team TransLash has been committed to helping alleviate our community’s fears and anxieties during this difficult time. We are all in this together! With that in mind, we’re been compiling this tracker: a directory of coronavirus-related resources for transgender, non-binary, and intersex people.
This directory of COVID-19 and vaccine related resources is being updated in real-time, so keep checking it for new additions! Some of these coronavirus resources are TGNC-specific, while others apply to most people in the United States. We will add more international resources as they arise. Submit any useful links that we may have missed here.
January 2022 Update: What You Need To Know About Variants
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Delta variant causes more infections and spreads faster than the original SARS-CoV-2 strain of the virus that cause COVID-19. Vaccines remain the best way to reduce your risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19. The CDC is also working with state and local public health officials to monitor the spread of Omicron. As of December 20, 2021, Omicron has been detected in most states and territories and is rapidly increasing the proportion of COVID-19 cases it is causing.
The virus that causes COVID-19 is constantly changing, and new variants of the virus are expected to occur. Numerous variants of the virus that causes COVID-19 are being tracked in the United States and globally during this pandemic.
- Vaccines reduce your risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19.
- COVID-19 booster doses are recommended for adults ages 18 and older. Teens 16–17 years old who received Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines can get a booster dose if they are at least 6 months post their initial Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination series.
- President Biden announced January 13, 2022, that the administration will buy another 500 million at-home COVID-19 tests for Americans in addition to his plans detailed last month to order 500 million tests.
- A day ahead of the scheduled rollout of free COVID-19 tests distributed by the Biden administration, some Americans were already placing orders on 1/18/22 for their free deliveries through a form posted by the U.S. Postal Service.
