Imara examines trans political representation and policy on the state and local level. First she talks to Montana State Representative Zooey Zephyr about her historic win as the state’s first out trans representative. They discuss her community-based campaign strategies, how she thinks about working from within the system and across the aisle, and her hopes to win hearts, minds, and policy. Next, Imara chats with activist and Pennsylvania gubernatorial commission co-vice chair, Ciora Thomas. She highlights the need for Black trans leadership in Pittsburgh and discusses her work on issues like the housing crisis within shifting political party agendas.
