American Problems, Trans Solutions

Black trans people are among the most marginalized Americans. Because they exist in such close proximity to some of the nation’s most pressing problems, they often possess deep insights born of lived experiences—which makes them a trustworthy source of innovative solutions. This project follows three Black trans leaders on the frontlines of positive change across the United States.

“Queer Black people, queer trans people, queer Black migrants; we have such a specific intersection and understand systems of oppression on multiple layers that we’re actually the only ones that can formulate a solution.”
