What Trump’s Changes to Title IX Really Mean

Episode Description

Recently, Trump’s Department of Education announced changes to Title IX, the law that protects people from sex-based discrimination in federally funded schools. It formally rescinded Biden-era changes that would have protected LGBTQ+ students on the basis of sex. Today, we’re digging into what these changes mean and how they’ll impact trans students across the country.

First, we hear from Ria Tabacco Mar, the Director of the Women’s Rights Project at the ACLU, about what this change means on a legal level. Then, Christopher Wiggins, the politics and news editor for The Advocate, Out, and Them, tells us how students have been responding to anti-trans rules and attitudes.

This week’s Trans Joy spotlights educator Lizi King.
